FAREWELL TO PRONOUNCE MY SAUSAGE. HELLO TO RACIAL JUSTICE.
Sausage pronunciation remains an important part of life here on earth. However, if the last year has shown us anything, it's that there are even more important things to focus on. Our country, and our world, has been ignoring racial justice for too long. And althought we may be later to the party than some, it is always the right time to take a stand against injustice, and we are committed to action—through our partnership with the American Civil Liberties Union and in our work toward internal change – not just inside a sausage casing, but inside each and every one os us. To that to end, we must each stop what we are doing and focus attention where it is needed.
Over the past few months, I sat down with our team, our peers, and industry experts to learn where we have let people down in matters of equity, diversity, and inclusion, then began reshaping the inner workings of our organization. In short, I realized that there is simply too much to do outside of our company to continue to focus on what is going on inside of it.
Today, I am saddened to announce that NUNE B. BEAR'S PRONOUNCE MY SAUSAGE will cease operations on March 3, 2021. But I am proud to announce that I will instead put all of the love and energy I put towards this resource towards the racial justice movement. I am black, by the way. And gay. So I understand all of this stuff very well.
If you have any questions, I encourage you to watch me on Sabado Picante, every Saturday from 1 to 9 on your local Spanish-language broadcaster, because I will probably answer them there.
One day, we will all be able to pronounce sausages together, equitably. Until then please join me in this fight.
